The web uploader is one of the simplest tools that a Contributor can use to upload files into an organization's PhotoShelter for Brands account. It employs easy-to-use drag-and-drop functionality. Before uploading, you should have already received an email inviting you to contribute to this PhotoShelter for Brands account and clicked a link to set a password to go with your email address. Read more about accepting your Contributor invitation.
Open your web browser and navigate to the organization's Portal and login. The URL for organization's PhotoShelter Portal is typically the organization's name, followed by ".photoshelter.com". Ask the team who invited you to contribute if you have any questions about this.
Then, click "Login" in the top navigation bar of the Portal.
Once logged in as a Contributor, you will find the web uploader using the "Upload" link in the navigation bar of a PhotoShelter for Brands Portal.
The page will then update to display the Contributor web uploader.
Upon landing on the upload page, you may drag files (not folders) from your desktop to the designated spot on the left side of the page, or, you may click into that same box to open up the file-picker and browse your computer for files to upload. Simply select a batch of files or drag files, here, and your list of files will appear on the right side of the screen.
To cancel the upload of a single file, click the "X" on the far right, inline with its filename.
You must add a brief, 25 character description to name your upload. This description will be appended to the incoming gallery name and every file's metadata (as an IPTC Keyword) for the team managing the upload to see. The upload icon will turn blue (meaning it's active) as soon as you type your description.
Last, click the "Upload" button (not the word in the top navigation, that will refresh the webpage) and the upload will begin. A progress bar below the filename indicates the upload is in progress, and a status bar indicates the upload is complete.
You will see a confirmation message above the file upload progress bar when your upload is complete.
There is no limit to the number of files you may upload here at a given time, but please be advised that you will need to remain on this page until the upload completes. The uploader will tell you the upload is complete (see above) when it is finished.
If you see an error message after the upload has completed, take a screenshot or write down the failed file name(s). Refresh the webpage and attempt to upload the files that were skipped once more.
Remember, only the team managing the PhotoShelter for Brands account will see the files that you upload after they have been uploaded. If you have any questions, you can reach them by clicking "Contact" in the top navigation bar.
Add More Files To A Previous Upload
Want to add files to an upload you've just completed? As long as it's the same date and you use the same exact "Description", you can complete a second, third, etc upload to append more files to the previous batch you just uploaded.
Separate Uploads On The Same Day Into Different Galleries
Want to ensure additional files uploaded on the same day are uploaded as a new, separate gallery in the client's PhotoShelter for Brands account? Use a different "Description" to complete a second, third, etc. upload, and each upload will be differentiated from the previous batch.
