Using the Desktop Uploader
1. Open the PhotoShelter Uploader on your desktop and sign in with your PhotoShelter credentials.
2. If you have 2FA enabled on your account, enter the 2FA challenge code generated by your authenticator app, then click Verify.
3. Select the Organization you'd like to upload to from the drop-down menu then click Select for Uploads.
If you're part of Library Staff, you'll notice that the new Desktop Uploader UI matches what you see in the Lumen Library. This new UI is easier to navigate than our previous DTU, allowing you to quickly create a new container or choose an existing container to upload into. Keep in mind that files can only be uploaded to Galleries, not Collections.
4. Create a new Gallery/Collection in either the Listed or Unlisted tab using the + icon in the left pane, or upload to an existing Gallery by selecting the Gallery from either the Listed or Unlisted tab. You won't be able to proceed with an upload unless a Gallery is selected.
If you create a new container to upload into, you can adjust the Location of the Gallery or Collection by entering an existing Collection into the Location field. Otherwise, the new container will be created at the root level.
5. Select files for upload. You can drag-and-drop files from your computer to the upload target, or click browse files to open a Finder window.
6. Your upload will begin automatically. While the upload completes, you can expand the upload queue and pause or resume files as needed.
Settings
In the Settings menu, you can choose how to handle loose files (files located at the same level as folders) during your upload.
You can also enable auto-updates, which automatically updates the app when our team releases a new version. If you disable this feature, you can still check for updates by clicking the button:
FAQ
Is 2FA required to log in to the new Desktop Uploader?
No, two-factor authentication is only required if it is enabled for your account. You can enable or disable 2FA at any time here.
Does the new Desktop Uploader support SSO?
Not yet, but we're working on it! For now, instead of using your SSO credentials, use the email address and unique password you set for your account, or reset your password here. Resetting your PhotoShelter password does not impact your SSO password.
Can Contributors use the Desktop Uploader?
Not yet. We're working to introduce Contributor support to the new DTU and should have an update shortly! For now, we suggest Contributors stick to uploading via another upload method.
Which file types are supported for upload?
Any file type you can upload in the Library is supported by the DTU. This includes video files, RAW files, GIFs and design files like INDD or PSD. For a full list of our supported file types, check here.
Can I adjust Visibility and Access permissions from the new Desktop Uploader?
No, you'll still need to use a browser to do any fine-tuning to files, galleries and collections. If you're on-the-go, we recommend downloading FileFlow for iOS or Android to adjust permissions and deliver content to your clients.
