PhotoShelter for Brands doesn't simply support video—we offer a rich suite of tools and support a wide range of video formats. One of the tools available is Video Clipping (trimming)! You can trim and create additional files (or just trim and download) using the video assets already in your Library. No need to download + reupload.
How to Create Clips in the PhotoShelter Library
To get started, locate a video file within your Library. Select the video, and you should see the Video Info pane on the right, with a few options at the top - including a "Create Clip" button (scissor icon, shown below):
Once "Create Clip" is selected, a new window will pop up with video playback and trim options. You can adjust the trim sliders (cuts in the middle not supported, yet) at both ends to adjust your video:
After trimming the video to your liking, click "Create Clip" again at the top-right. A "Clip Settings" pane will display, with the option to change the file name, save location (if saving), and to copy original metadata over to the new file:
If you click "Download", you don't need to worry about the "Save Location" field. Instead, just confirm the size you'd like the video to be (shown below) - PhotoShelter will generate a new file for you and immediately send it to your downloads folder on your computer:
If the "Create" button is chosen, you'll find the file saved in your Library, according to the "Clip Settings" you've set (shown below):
After clipping, check the original file info again - you'll notice a new "Clip" section is populated with the new file, which will tell you the name of the clip, who made it (and when), and where it is located in your Library.
Video Clipping (Trim) is also available in Workspaces and in the Lumen Portal for all Library Staff users.
Things to Consider
- You can trim and save to a gallery or a workspace by changing the "Save Location" when clipping.
- You can trim on the Portal and Portal workspaces only, or if you are logged in as Library Staff.
- This version does not support trimming in a Shared Library yet.
