Customizing FusionIQ Tags with Rules
Overview
PhotoShelter AI identifies objects, people, brand marks and text in images and automatically adds tags. Just like IPTC keywords, automated tags can be used to find images using search tools in the Library and on the Portal. PhotoShelter AI consists of different products that can be added to your account:
FusionIQ
FusionIQ adds general tags (like those for common objects such as trees, birds, flowers, etc.) to images. FusionIQ tags can be customized with rules (see below).
ObjectID
Like FusionIQ, ObjectID adds general tags (like those for common objects such as trees, birds, flowers, etc.) to images.
RosterID
RosterID tags specific sports players using their face and/or jersey data.
PeopleID
PeopleID tags specific people using their face. PeopleID tags can be used to find images using search tools in the Library and on the Portal. Visit this article for more information.
FaceID
FaceID tags specific people using their face. The best use case for this is form of tagging is when many of the images that need tagging contain people are wearing hats or sunglasses.
BrandID
BrandID tags specific brand marks, like logos and sponsors, in images.
TextID
TextID tags specific pieces of text from a pre-defined list of high-value words. The pre-defined list could include, text on product photography, text on banner ads, text on location signage etc.
Custom Models
PhotoShelter AI can also be trained to tag custom objects or scenes in images.
Tags added to images with any of the AI products will appear under Automated Metadata in the right pane of the Library view for an individual image.
If you would like to upgrade your subscription to include AI tagging, please contact Customer Success.
Deleting Specific Automated Tags
After an image has been tagged, Library staff have the option to delete specific tags in the event that they do not want the image to appear in search results for that tag.
To delete a tag:
- In the Library, select an image that has automated tags
- Click the X icon next to a tag to delete it
To restore a tag:
- In the Library, select an image that has automated tags
- Click Show deleted tags
- Click on the arrow icon next to the tag to restore it
Using Automated Tags in Library Search
By default, automated tags are included in in Library search results with the Automated tags option in the File Search tool. If this box isn’t checked, search will only return results from non-automated metadata.
Using Automated Tags in Portal Search
Library staff have the option to allow automated tags to be included in search results on the Portal.
To enable this feature:
- Click Admin at the top and select Metadata Settings from the drop-down.
- On the left, select Automated Tag Settings.
- Check the box next to Enable automated tags in Portal Search.
- Click Save.
When this feature is enabled, Portal users will have the option to include automated tags in their search results. If this feature is disabled, search results on the Portal will only contain results from non-automated metadata.
Appending Automated Tags to IPTC Keywords
Library staff have the option to allow automated tags to be appended to the IPTC Keyword field when images are downloaded from the Portal.
To enable this feature:
- Click Admin at the top and select Metadata Settings from the drop-down.
- On the left, select Automated Tag Settings.
- Check the box next to Append enabled automated tags to IPTC Keywords on download.
- Click Save.
When this feature is enabled, any enabled automated tags will be appended to the IPTC Keyword field when an image is downloaded from the Portal. This will not overwrite any IPTC keywords that were added manually.
Turning off Automated Tagging for New Uploads
Library staff have the option turn off automated tagging when new images are uploaded.
To disable this feature:
- Click Admin at the top and select Metadata Settings from the drop-down.
- On the left, select Automated Tag Settings.
- Uncheck the box next to Apply automated tags to all new uploads.
- Click Save.
When this feature is disabled, images can still be uploaded, but automated tags will not be applied. In addition, this feature must be disabled to control auto-tagging setting at the Gallery-level.
Turning on Automated Tagging for Specific Galleries
Library staff have the option control automated tagging at the Gallery-level. This is particularly useful when different Galleries require different kinds of tags. For example, a Gallery of football images from 2019 can be tagged with the players from the 2019 player roster (whereas a Gallery of football images from 2020 should be tagged with that year's roster).
To enable this feature:
- Click Library at the top and select a specific Gallery.
- In the right pane, open Automated Metadata.
- Click Enable auto-tagging.
- Select the types of automated tags you'd like applied when images are added to the gallery.
- Click Enable auto-tagging.
When this feature is enabled, images that are uploaded (or added) to the Gallery will automatically be tagged according to the Gallery-level settings. These settings can be changed any time without changing the tags that are already in the Gallery.
Customizing FusionIQ Tags with Rules
When FusionIQ is enabled, Library staff have the option of creating rules to customize how FusionIQ tags are applied to images. Rules change how FusionIQ behaves for future uploads. They do not affect images that have already been tagged.
To create rules:
- Click Admin at the top and select Metadata Settings from the drop-down.
- On the left, select Rule Settings under FusionIQ.
- Click Create New Rule.
- Follow the instructions in the resulting dialog to create a rule.
Group existing tags
Grouping two or more tags won’t change the original term but will increase the confidence score of any additional terms that have already been identified on that file.
Replace with a new tag
Replacing one tag with another will hide the original term and replace (rename) it with any tag you select.
Extend with new term(s)
Extending a tag with new terms won’t change the original term but will add any new tags, even when they have not been recognized.
Remove tag
Removing a tag will prevent it from being applied to any files you upload in future.
